A little about me....
Hi! I’m Kara!
I’m a mom, nurse, have a busy blended family. I had spent most of life heavy. I was the heavy kid, heavy teen and until almost entering adulthood nutrition and health wasn’t even really on my radar. I remember hitting 200 pounds around 12 years old. Emotional eating was my jam! My senior year of high school I lost some weight on Weight Watchers but started my yo-yo that would continue for years to come.
I had a brief stint in college at hitting goal and making lifetime, but immediately bounced back. Fast forward to age 26, when I had my daughter. I was 218 lbs. I was put on blood pressure and thyroid medication (some of that genetic, some just from my terrible habits!). I knew I had to make a change to be alive for my kiddo (family history of EVERYTHING!). So I rejoined WW. I lost quite a bit, but started endurance running so I quit again. I ‘needed the calories to run,’ that’s what I told myself anyway. I maintained for quite a while, but life took over and the yo-yo continued with every eating style imaginable. None sustainable.
Flash forward to 34, last October. We had family photos and I was not a fan of how I appeared in those photos. I knew I was tired of being tired and feeling ‘blah.’ I made my mind up that I was going to change. I knew I had to do it from a place of self love. I had done it a million times from self deprication and it never worked. My body had done a million great things for me (ran a marathon, created a human life), it was time for me to love it back by nourishing it and moving it.
It’s now November, and I celebrated goal and lifetime amidst a global pandemic! I’ve maintained my goal weight range for almost 5 months, and I’m 100% committed to making this lifestyle FOREVER!! Maintenance is the most fun challenge to date!! The extra confidence, continued improvement and self love make this journey so great! ❤️
